Clancy, NCAR # 793
This 15 pound mini Aussie-Monkey boy came into the Yuba County shelter as a stray over a year ago. Shelter staff posted him as a Chihuahua mix and he was adopted and returned twice for "chewing things.” We feel he looked more like a mini Aussie mix and rescued him so he would never be returned to the shelter again.
I watched for excessive chewing, but never ever saw any indication of it. He's about 3 years old, plays fetch, is a cuddle bug, housebroken, playful with the other playful dogs and follows me everywhere…which is why he almost caused me to have a heart attack.
I walked to my car and looked up the driveway and saw him literally climb up our 6 foot chain link gate. As he was perched up there, I snapped this photo from my iphone – it's not great, but I certainly wasn't going to have him do it again just to get a better photo!
He then jumped down and trotted to me and made it clear why he was a stray and why he was returned to the shelter twice.
He's a great apartment dog, and probably would not get out of a solid wood fence, but I leave him in the house when I have to go anywhere and he does just fine…no chewing, no scratching. He likes car rides too. I love this little monkey boy. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Eddie NCAR #XXX
Eddie was out of time at the shelter and through a series of help from kind volunteers, we rescued him at the 11th hour. He’s about 18 months to 2 years old, looks like a Yorkie-Poo (Yorkie Poodle mix) and weighs about 14 lbs. He’s very loving, likes sleeping on my bed, will play fetch and is playing with our other small dogs nicely.
He’s leary of men, but if they sit down, he’ll warm up eventually. He’s great with all women. I think children and a busy household might overwhelm him.
A great companion dog for a quiet home. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Ruby, NCAR #37
 Ruby and her new sweater
Ruby is a gorgeous, red Chihuahua who weighs 6 pounds. She tested positive for heartworm, so we rescued her from the Sacramento County shelter and got her treated and she's healthy and happy and ready for her new home!
She’s crate trained, extremely friendly and loves to be in any adult's lap. Ruby is extremely friendly, walks beautifully on a leash, and is very smart. It doesn’t appear that she had any training, but in her current foster home she has already learned ‘stay’, ‘wait’, and ‘down’. She is cat tolerant and gets along well with other dogs, but she does not like children. It would be preferable that she be the only dog. She needs an owner that is willing to provide structure and training. She would do best in a home where someone can be with her most of the time. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Rickie
I would like to introduce you to Rickie, a little 4 year old male reddish brown chiweenie that weighs approx 9 lbs and is the sweetest, although very timid, little charmer that you would ever want to meet. Rickie came to our rescue after his owner, the owner that he had known for his first 3 years of life, suddenly died. Rickie was passed around to a couple of rescues because he would try to bite and growl due to being so scared. Once he came to live at his present foster home where he received a lot of TLC dished out very patiently, he blossomed. He is still a little standoffish when meeting new people, but again, with patience he warms up and is a little sweetheart. He gets along well with all of the other dogs in his foster home and plays for hours with the other small dogs there until it's time to curl up in a soft warm spot and take a nap. He sleeps well in a crate at night and doesn't fuss.
Rickie has some potty training issues and will need a refresher course on how to use a dog door. Rickie can sit up on his little back legs forever and wait for a treat or most importantly to be picked up and cuddled like a little baby in your arms.No cats!
Rickie is being fostered in Lodi.
